New EPD specialists join LCA Support

Mari-Liis Tommula

Physics graduate & software support specialist Mari-Liis Tommula has already made a big impact.

Mari-Liis likes a complex challenge and so chose to move across to the Life Cycle Assessment sector this year as it combines both her science specialism and her passion for the environment.

As an enthusiastic reader on the topic, she has now adopted as her new mantra that ‘anything that gets measured gets managed’.It’s a key line from one of our favourite LCA bibles, Life Cycle Assessment: Theory and Practice.

“And that’s why I’m proud to work on EPDs and make a positive contribution to managing sustainability within the construction sector. Also, we have a great team here at LCA Support.”

In her spare time, Mari-Liis enjoys music (and we’ve heard her give great performances on piano, violin, viola, and guitar) and hiking in nature, hence she fits right in. (We’re big fans of orienteering here. Like LCAs, it’s all about understanding data to move in the right direction!)

Sander Härma

We posted about a paid summer internship a few months ago. Well, we were fortunate to find Sander Härma for that role - and he’s sticking with our team into winter!

Sander is studying Environmental Technology and Management at Tallinn University of Applied Sciences and has had two previous internships focused on life cycle assessment.

First, at Põhja-Eesti Regionaalhaigla (Estonia’s largest hospital), Sander took the huge task of mapping, calculating and analysing its carbon footprint.

More recently, Sander interned at Sustinere where he was involved in the development of carbon footprint calculating for events.

And so Sander joined us with an already great understanding and enthusiasm for the usefulness of life cycle assessments and he’s been incredibly adept at applying that to the construction sector.

And, if he’s not busy enough, Sander is also trained as a paramedic as an active reserve for the Estonian Defence Forces.
